999er - a dice throwing game

Post by Acki »

Hi,
I just released my latest game: 999er

It is a little dice throwing game.
The goal is to get a sum closest to 999.
The game can be played by 1 to 4 players.
Every player can be human or a computer opponent !!!

Nice, but it never comes up for me. I get the following error message when I try to run the game:

999er.exe - Unable to Locate Component
This application has failed to start because d3dx8.dll was not found...

I can't seem to locate this .dll on my system. I guess I'll need to search the web for it. :(

Hmmm, strange, it only uses OpenGL and DX9 (not DX8)...

But I'll add the DLL to the setup, too... ;)
Thx for the report !!!

EDIT: I just uploaded the new setup...
If you don't want to download the full version just for the DLL, you can download the DLL here: http://abusoft.g0dsoft.com/d3dx8.dll

Thanks. It's working now. But I can't seem to keep the dice inside the "bowl." It's too bouncy! I would recommend turning down the physics to reduce the bounce. Or make "fence" or higher bowl walls. :)

Also, it would be nice to be able to skip/fast forward the cpu turn. It's a nice game. :)

Hmm, yes sometimes it's pretty hard to throw the dice into the bowl...
I thought this would be a additional challange... ;)

For the cpu player speed you can set it to fast in the game options !!!
Of course the dice flows at the same speed, but the cpu does the scoreboard faster (no waits for showing the score)...

Bowl simulation would be bit more tricky but I think you got it down, Great game Acki!

Yes, great game indeed.

I was afraid that I was going to lose, because all the other players were closer to 999, but I won on last moment, with the last dice draw ! :D

Acki, did you made the rules for this game ? Because I never played it, and neither heard of it before.

Oh, and your new site looks nice too, Acki.

Cheers.

LE: I found a small bug: If all the players lose, the game throws an error.

Thank you, very much !!! :D
Of course to all testers in general !!!

Unfortunately no, the rules are not mine...
But I also do not know where they are from...
I played it in my childhood together with 3 friends, they teached me...
And I never asked where the rules are from... ;)

for the bug:
this should not happen...
But I'll try to reproduce it !!!
What system you're running ???

Edit:
yes, you're right !!!
I'll search for the bug !!!
