OSRPG Maggun

Post by kornerr »

SF.net page (Read realease notes carefully!)
This game will be featured with HL2-like gun (not implemented atm) and smth else :P
So far it can load map created in OSRPG Map Editor and "fly/walk" in the world.

To compile you need ode >= 0.7 and Irrlicht svn revision 267 (you can download the archive at the above SF page as well).

Usage under Windows

Unpack data-0.5.1.tar.bz2 from Map Editor release to, let's say, C:/Trash [rename unpacked "data-0.5.1" to "data"]
Unpack game_exe_src-0.0.1.tar.bz2 into C:/Trash as well.
Copy Irrlicht.dll and libode.dll into C:/Trash/game-0.0.1
Modify C:/Trash/game-0.0.1/settings approprietly (supply full path to data folder, you'd better stick to "../data/")

Haha JP, Luke, kornerr and myself were just arguing about that on IRC.

The answer is that kornerr isn't 'n00b' friendly - whatever that is supposed to mean...

Yeah, it's not for people who can't read 2 lines of text and then copy dlls. This is what I mean by non-noob-friendly.

Well, for those who still read it.
You can create doors with hinge joints.
You can create a platform hanging on chains with ball-socket joints.

Tis fair enough i suppose, your project and you'll do with it what you wish. But it just seems that it could cause problems. It requires specific versions of things and people might not be able to get hold of them easily so i think it's always best to provide everything needed for the game to run with the download.

I've made a little movie of maggun [7M]:
http://kornerr.alfamoon.com/movies/maggun-0.0.1.mpg_
It's 320x240, because xvidcap kills fps at larger screen resolutions.

I'll make an installer for the next release, it's really a must-have, thanks for telling me that :)
