For our upcoming Toolset and RPG we are in the process of making a Custom Build of the Irrlicht Engine (currently based on 0.10.0) - it's 100% API conform to Irrlicht 0.10.0 plus some additions and improvements, which are currently only available in the Win32/.NET Version (and we are about to do much more), but for Linux we have rewritten a lot of the OpenGL stuff like:
- removed all OpenGL-Extensions (#include <GL/glext.h>, glxGetProcess....)
- Extensions are automatically detected during runtime, plz include "oglext/OglExt.h" instead of "glext.h" - instead of fetching the entrypoints of an extented OpenGL Function via glXGetProc you can just call this function - problem of glXGetProcAddress[ARB] resolved on Gentoo and (hopefully) on any other Linux Distro
- now Irrlicht features its own libIrrlicht.so library
We have made an eBuild (~x86) for Gentoo, so PLZ help us testing if you 'll have the time...
