title: UnlimitedLands

Image

a screenshot from my terrain scene node/terrain manager. The hard was fixing seams between terrain tiles. I solved on my own without the need of adiacency trees (3 weeks only for that sigh.).

That's an awesome looking terrain. Are they truly "unlimited" lands? can you navigate that map endlessly? :)

Thanks :). truly unlimited of course not. Every tiles require almost up to 1000 bytes of hard disk space (independently of wich LOD it belongs and without any kind of special packing or compression system). Tiles can be randomly generated using neighbours data (or child/parent data if present) to fit missing tile on harddisk so this can help to create very huge lands.

is okay, i saw a terrain system in which, although there was only 1 terrain, it repeated seamlessly...

If that is a streamed terrain is something really great.

There are animations, but they stick to the grid, so that it looks like sprite animation. No smooth rotations in our game : ).

Guys it's only the 15th! there's still a whole 5 days! AND I've still got something brewing. But I'm just wondering whether I should enter this or next month because it's going to annihalate the competition, so I might give Rin a chance first. What do you think?

More competition is always good... bring it on :-) (But can you really compete with a screenshot with hearts in it?)
