Well, it is like it is - satire magazines make fun of it - newspapers use it for political cartoons. People laugh at death, that's one way of coping with it.

people can be as satirical or funny as they like, newspapers and magazines can make jokes and satirical comments all day long, that doesnt mean everyone agrees or is happy with it.

if people struggle to understand that concept, I'm not going to waste my time trying to explain it anymore than this:
Posting harmless random pictures of cats and dogs is one thing, but posting pictures of morally ambiguous ideals or concepts is asking for trouble

I see it rather different - the moment people producing satire start to self-censor your society is doomed.

And in this specific case - I don't think you can deny that one of the main reasons why this is such big news is because it was such an freaky ship accident. Good weather, no problems, just the captain trying to show off for whatever reasons.
