Half the newspapers are currently full with caricatures comparing the cruise-liner catastrophe with European politics. Or here's a link to a german satire-magazine: http://www.titanic-magazin.de/postkarte ... b803c27503

Bad taste and good jokes go hand-in-hand. Satire must break the moral rules to be funny!

There are moral limits.

Sure, that's why breaking them can be so funny.

Ok, then please tell me when a first-degree relative or a close friend of yours has died. I'll come up with a good joke then.

Well, it is like it is - satire magazines make fun of it - newspapers use it for political cartoons. People laugh at death, that's one way of coping with it.

Oh - and you just promised me a good suicide joke, tough choice :-)

I'm with ramdomMesh on this one:
people can be as satirical or funny as they like, newspapers and magazines can make jokes and satirical comments all day long, that doesnt mean everyone agrees or is happy with it.

CuteAlien if you dont have a problem with touchy subjects, good for you

I cant think of anything else to say right now
here's some random pics of cats and dogs

So, this is your idea of fun? Don't you think that if I wanted to stare at "funny" cats while not having to have a single thought of my own, I'd have gone to youtube?
You know you say making fun out of a ship that killed some people(remember, there are still about 7,000,000,000 people left) is just wrong. Well at least it's not mind-numbing and, actually requires you to have a brain cell. That's what counts for me

Who are you talking to? I think your frustrated braincells are struggling to see the bigger picture.
randommesh made no comment about cats and dogs, and I cant care less whether you enjoy staring at "funny" cats or not, I certainly dont.

I was only referring to randommesh's comment

if people struggle to understand that concept, I'm not going to waste my time trying to explain it anymore than this:
Posting harmless random pictures of cats and dogs is one thing, but posting pictures of morally ambiguous ideals or concepts is asking for trouble

your braincells, use them how you want

I see it rather different - the moment people producing satire start to self-censor your society is doomed.

And in this specific case - I don't think you can deny that one of the main reasons why this is such big news is because it was such an freaky ship accident. Good weather, no problems, just the captain trying to show off for whatever reasons.

@fmx: my point was, you say making fun out of a rather perplexing accident is just wrong, yet posting you say harmless pictures of cats is all right.
Now I'm not an expert in this area, but if you ask me which one is harmless, I'd say it's definitely not the cats thing ;)
