New game using Irrlicht - Road Wars 3D

Post by dTb »

Hello everybody,

I'm proud to present my first app developped with Irrlicht : Road Wars 3D
I'm really sorry, but it's french only for the moment, but easy to use and understand (I think and I hope). English version will come soon.

It's a "turn by turn" simple strategy game, and the topic is races and fights of cars in a near future.

The website and screenshots are here :

And the direct link to the game here :
http://www.docteeboh.net/roadwars3d/roadwars3d.zip

It's only a 0.6 version, but the game is working, and -on my computer- no more big bugs. I'm waiting all comments and bug reports =))

Good project, I've spent hours playing this game on paper at school!
The game runs very well with DirectX 8.1 on a pentium4 with geforce mx 440 with directX 9.0b installed.
It crashes using directX 9.0c (probably because I haven't installed them, and I cannot since on this pc I haven't got administrative rights),
the error says "memory at 0x00000000 couldn't be read".
With openGL text isn't perfect, characters miss some pixels, but I've observed this with other irrlicht games on my pc with geforce mx 420, so it's not a problem of your game.
It's very enjoyable!

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I've notice the openGL / font problem on my computer too (Gforce4Mx).
I hope most of players will use DX.

I think its a known issue with OpenGL and 2d images & text, I think there was a post about it the other day...
