Project gallery and website. Submit projects here

Postby hybrid » Fri Jan 28, 2011 5:06 pm

Hi,
this is an approach to update our 'projects with Irrlicht' website (http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/screens ... jects.html) and extend our gallery of awesome screenshots (http://sourceforge.net/apps/gallery/irrlicht/)
Please don't post general project questions or gallery questions here. Any discussion will be removed from this thread. Use one of the other boards for this.

If you are project maintainer of a stable or even commercial project, you may submit a project abstract and screenshots of your app/game/tool in this thread. Please make sure that your project fulfills the following requirements and your post includes the necessary information and links.
  • Your project must have a dedicated website or being listed as an existing, finished project on a well-known website (appshop, game distributor, open source repository, ...)
  • You must include a name for the project, a short abstract about the idea and usage (at least 5 sentences) and a short summary about the history (at least start and releases of the project, the latter only if anything is already released)
  • You must give the link to the project website and/or to the shop/repository where the tool can be downloaded.
  • Since we want to fill our gallery with some more images, you must provide at least two images from your project. All scenes must be rendered with Irrlicht, and you must have all necessary rights to publish the scene, and furthermore give us the rights to publishthe screenshot. Please make sure that the screenshots are large enough, and are accessible for more than a few weeks (as it might take some time before we update the gallery).

If you don't want to publish certain information, you might try to contact us by PM or mail. There might be situations where we might make an exception for certain things.
Please don't put too much information into this thread. Create your own project announcement for this. Your project seems to be eligible if you can submit it here. You should also consider submitting a screenshot to the monthly screenshot contest.

These rules may get changed in the future. Moreover, even if your project complies with all requirements, there's no guarantee that we will add the project to either the gallery or the website. If we do so, you will be informed if we have a contact address.

Am I the first one to post here? Nice. OK, the screenshots are from my (more or less) well known "Stunt Marble Racers" game. The project is finished.

Project Name : Stunt Marble Racers
Website: http://www.dustbin-online.de/marbles2.php
Project Start: August 2009
Project End: October 2010

The idea was to make a fun-to-play racing game "inspired by Marble Madness". Originally the project was intended to be a little demo for the "IrrOde" wrapper, but it turned into being a "complete game". Includes single player, two player splitscreen and up to four player network playing, and a replay mode where recorded races can be watched.

The game was released as open source under the zlib licence, sourcecode is included in the download package.

here are some screenshots:

Project Name: Blooddrunk Engine
Description: And effort to conjoin components a few dead and finished projects of mine, Project Ninja Star(dead), Global Illumination Demo for Irrlicht(fini), Pazystamo's ATMOsphere enhanced with realtime atmospheric scattering(fini), PSSLiPSMVSM (in progress) to create a game engine which is as open ended and exposed as irrlicht allowing to code games with a high level of abstraction (even with python) or use the subsystems directly(irrlicht, cAudio, bullet) without anything imposed on the application by the engine. The project is aiming to produce one of the first deferred render based open source game engine using GPGPU solutions (OpenCL).

@devsh: From your website:
This project currently has no downloads.

This is for finished or mature projects under development. This requires as an absolute minimum at least one, better several releases. And it needs to be at least in beta state, better already finalised.
@Brainsaw: Yeah, very good submission. I didn't find enough time this weekend to prepare the infrastructure for this, but I'll try to get to it in the next days.

Hello, we made a game a while back. The project page in the forums still exists: http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=38344

Project name: Quantum
Website: http://www.bluegrounds.com/Projects
Download link: http://www.students.tut.fi/~laitin33/Quantum.zip (stable, our university servers)
Project start: February 2010
Project end: October 2010
Project status: Finished

Idea with this game was to create a 3D tower defence game and learn game/graphics programming. The game is for windows/Direct3D9 and requires shader model 3.0 to run. As a quick description I will copy-paste from the project announcement topic:

"The game is a 3D Tower defence where your mission is to secure an alien flower's growth on planet earth. This will not be easy as enemies ranging from quickly moving ants to a walking tree stump are also on a mission to kill this odd plant. "

Project Name: IMP - Irrlicht Media Player
URL: http://sourceforge.net/projects/irrlichtmp/
Project Start: Aug 25, 2010
Project End: Under Development
Licence: No restritions for personal, commercial or any other kind of use.
All full source code is available for download. (Same as irrlicht)

Main Idea: Imagine that you load your audio (mp3, ogg, wav, avi, theora) file (could also have a jukebox mode) and it starts to play... then in the stage a character(s) will dance, jump, or play an instrument(s), whatever, with lots of blinking lights and flash lights, etc... (disco ambiance) also with random nice audience events. (Flash lights cameras, people whistling, etc...)

Project name: DunGen - a procedural 3D Dungeongenerator library for Irrlicht
Project start: June 2011
Project end: version 1.0 officially released in December 2013, more versions coming
Project status: finished, further updates are coming
Website: http://dungen.squarefox.net

Description:
DunGen is a library for Irrlicht, which can be used to generate and use 3D dungeons for your Irrlicht games and other applications.
Methods of procedural synthesis, such as L-system, Voxels and Hermite-Splines are used to generate these dungeons.
The generation of a complete dungeon usually takes less than a half minute (under 10 seconds on a modern Core i7 processor).
DunGen features the generation of procedural voxel based caves, which can be eroded, filtered, warped and smoothed so that they look more realistic.
You can also generate corridors between rooms and/or cave parts, and place detail objects (e.g. torches or monsters) in them.
Own .irr scene files can be used to provide room patterns for your dungeon.
