Looks sweet, reminds me of all those gllory days of DOS graphics when games were stored on flopy discs. What they lacked in graphic look they made for in playability. Novadays games seems not to be made for us to play and learn but for some strange idiotic alien race, bored with its own obssesion in nice pictures on screen...

Wish you not to be case with your project. Looks promissing :wink:

P.S.: there seems to be some problem at place where atmosphere meets planet surface. Probably caused by planets surface triangulation. It is vissible on 5th picture (firsth non wireframe).

Completely agree with you. Several years i've played with elite 2 during several years, even if the new games were so nice in graphic, they lack of depth. I haven't choosen the style game, for instance i'm working with a fast rendering planet engine. I want the game be able to run on an low end system so i take care of the FPS (the windows showing this is for debug purpose). The game goal will be probably you drive the last mother ship of a civilization destroy during a war. Your goal: survive on the dynamic universe. The mother ship will have factory to build fighter, shuttle and all the necessary supply. Your task will be to manage the mother ship and his crew during your travel in the galaxy. The system will be completly procedural and random, so you can meet other civilisations, the mother ship can not land on planet due to his size (about 3000m) but figher and shuttle can do it.

I like galactica series (teh old series), and i try to recreate this environment. I've played with BM3000, i like the gameplay but i don't like the planet landing. I'm trying to take the gameplay of BM3000 and to translate it in an elite like game...

OK, now i'm taking account the rotatino of the planet => as a result when a vessel is landed, it moves in the same maneer than the planet...

You should give your project/page a different name imo. :) Something without "elite". Be creative... ;) That avoids anyone thinking you think you're the best (due to the "elite"). How about project "orbital dive" for example? ;)

The new screenshot looks interesting but takes nearly forever to load. Try to save it as a JPEG or PNG first and then include it on that page. That formats are a lot smaller than simple Windows-Bitmaps (BMP).

Not to sound condescending, but I'm pretty sure the "Elite" in the project refers to the classic space-sim game called "Elite". Look it up on Wikipedia and you'll see that "IrrlichtElite" seems quite appropriate.

:? but as the screen shots it appears in the first picture it is not a plant :P it is just a small plane i think he capture shots from different programs :wink: !?
