Yes, Afecelis.. gdlib.net/afecelis.gdlib.net seems to be offline...
When will you upload all files (including other examples/turorials?) on another ftp?

Been a bit busy lately, sorry guys. To make things worse, I got no backup of the gdlib info so everything might've gotten lost. :( But I'll try to update the tut by capturing one on video instead. Should simplify things a lot.

Sorry to Necro-thread, however I was looking through some old files I found your tutorial for GTKRADIANTv4, Afecelis.

It is here if you want it: quake3.zip

Let me know when you find a permanent home for it and I'll take it off of my site, since it's not really mine to give out.

That's great Fuzzy! thanks a bunch. it's very cool you had a backup of it! ;)

I'm downloading it now and will upload it to the new FTP wildrj so kindly offered ;)

Thanks a ton!

Feel free to erase it form your server.

done! grab it here:
http://files.wildspad.com/afecelis/irrl ... quake3.zip

Just re-read it and it's a good explanation, though there are many things that could be improved, specially now with GTKradiant 1.5.0. Things would be simpler. But I guess It's a good guide for people wishing to create their own Q3 bsps and being able to use them in Irrlicht. ;)

Thanks for the help!

One quick question I'm unsure about

I've read about compilers and legal issues, and I've heard about Q3 compilers.. GPL? it's all too comfusing to me.. (soaking up too much information)

I followed the tutorial in your zip file and everything works perfect, my question is.. Are my maps made with this application, and compiled using the compiler you outlined in the tutorial safe for commercial works?

thank you

@BarkerGaming:

Yes - since GtkRadiant and q3map2 were GPL'ed you can use maps created with them it in commercial products - this works exactly like Blender or GIMP - they both are released under GPL.

I have a question about q3map2 tool. Can it generate lightmaps on objects which use gouraud shading or only flat shaded objects can be used in q3 maps?

// and another question - why is gtkradiant so unstable under linux

I have tested the Q3 tut and all is fine when using the old irrlicht.dll but when i compile it with the latest irrlicht.dll it dont show the textures i have in my map.

The map works fine with the old irrlicht.dll

Please advice..

*Edit It dosnt seem to loadthe light either with the new .dll

I've looked up a Q3 mapping tutorial because a lot of questions are basic Q3 mapping questions. I've done some simple CoD1 and CoD2 aimmaps. IMO All radiants i've seen look alike ;)

Even better this tuturial was made using GtkRadiant
