Best blender tuts for game dev I've seen!

Post by afecelis »

Although not focused on rendering, they cover most of the things a game developer is interested in:
-Modeling
-UV mapping
-Texturing
-Rigging
-Animating
-Level editing
-Blender game engine
-Gimp for texturing

I was gladly surprised to run into these babies!

It’s been a long time since I’ve been here. With the release of irrlicht 1.0, I have decided to look around since I switch to ogre a few mouths ago, longer than that :)

I switch because of the x file format, ogre’s .mesh was much better.

With the release of 2.41 at lease you can now use the tab key with edit boxes.

Hi all!

Afecelis, good point to show those sites.
Another easy way to find new tutorials is to regularly check on
http://www.blendernation.com/ .
They also got an rss-feed.
The author(s) of the site seem to check various sites and forums and publish nearly every day new and exciting things about Blender.

Cheers,

Wings (modelling/uvmapping only) is also for several OSes. Yet though you'd also need to team it up with Blender for animations.

read very fast most of them...of the first site.

A bit basic, but I guess a must read for people that already know the Blender interface but is having some problems to do several of the game common tasks.

The rigging tutorial is very good, yet it does not get in depth with constraints, or how to glue feet to floor(even in the animation sample I seem to apreciate some sinking, but is ok, the tut sample doesn't needda be accurate in any means), and other stuff of certain importance for animation...and game animation has its specifics, also, But am not refering to that, but general char animation. But what can one ask for a one page tut. I'm already amazed on how much is told there.

The modelling stuff...the more tuts I read the more I get confirmed in my decission on keep modelling in wings. Is simply more advanced there than other modelers ;) Anyway, does not add anything new to what I already knew of blender modelling...very good tuts, anyway.

Is curious how blender people, and most packages people do have so similar aproach to solve the universal 3d problems.

I much liked the clever tricks he uses to generate a like-lightmapped level, in the level tut.

Summarizing, there are curious points there.

And a must read for any one starting.

The cog film tutorials I am quite interested in reading. No time now, but i'll definitely have a look at the ocean generation tutorial.
Finally making games again!
