We already have an url block for people with less than 3 posts or so. A permanent annoyance of new users seems like a bad idea - after all these folks have urgentquestions and are only learning about Irrlicht.

OpenGL is not hard. What you have to do is just explained in specifications. What is hard is dealing with poor OpenGL implementations.
