What Is Missing From Irrlicht?

Post by LookingForAPath »

I haven't been on these forums in a bit ( again ), but I've come back with a question not geared towards my personal benefit, but more of what could lead to a community benefit.

Anyway, as the title says, I'm a bit curious as to what functionality Irrlicht is currently missing?

I've been thinking about things like:

Static Instancing - Lonesome Ducky's mesh combiner (http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/forum/v ... hp?t=39598) fits this quite nicely, but I don't know if he has added GPU based transformations or if he even works on it anymore.

Dynamic Instancing - I haven't seen any major progress on this.
Post-Processing System - I've seen a few here and there, but nothing with a major hype if you all can name one in specific that is pretty decent I'd love to look at it.
Decal System - RdR's decal system (http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/forum/v ... hp?t=44968) might be able to erase the need for this, as his works quite well.

So any other suggestions would be great.
Note: I'm not saying "I" can or will be doing these additions (as I doubt my skills and will surely attempt in the background without saying a word, unless I succeed), I'm trying to get a list of things the community thinks the engine needs, to be in a bluntly open and displayed list.

There is a tracker for feature requests on the SF page of Irrlicht. Take a look :)

I feel quite dumb for not knowing that by now.

Thanks, Mel.
