SkyDome concept question

Postby bdpdonp » Sat Jan 21, 2012 6:29 am

I am making a game where the player moves his vessel 3D, and would like the background image to change. The concept is as if the player were inside a sphere and could move in any direction and get a slightly different background.

To accomplish this, is skydome the answer or will it work?

If not, are there other ways to accomplish the desired effect? Even a 3D background with scrolling would work, I think.

Once again you have brought the full power of your intellect to the problem. We are really lucky to have you around.

What about a large sphere with the scene and camera inside?

A large sphere with the scene and camera inside would work perfectly. Is that doable right now in irrlicht?

You should be able to get the mesh structure of the skydome and skybox nodes. This allows for easy updates of the vertex colors or textures.
