Thanks to all contributors. Great Work.
good work , but 2012 and still no dx11 suport!
The thumbnail is wrong! You used the “NEWS” image when you should have used “RELEASE”!
@Byllgrim: Thanks, I didn’t notice before that there are specific thumbnails
good work for visual cpp users, but the GCC version dont have support to DirectX at all! WTF?
No DirectX for gcc has license reasons.
yay!!!! Great work, thank you!
@CuteAlien and @jeffsturmann
to enable DirectX support for gcc you have to compile Irrlicht yourself.
- Open up the Makefile in the source/Irrlicht folder.
- at line 108 it reads “#choose either -DIRR_COMPILE_WITH_DX9_DEV_PACK or -DNO_IRR_COMPILE_WITH_DIRECT3D_9_ depending if you need dx9″
- so, remove the ‘#’ at line 109 (and edit the line if you need to.
- build Irrlicht as instructed. (which is ‘make win32′ for windows with MinGW.
And you should be good to go.
PS. To get Irrlicht to work with the latest version of MinGW (At time of writing at least) I added ‘ -mno-ms-bitfields ‘ to the CXXFLAGS in the makefile (line: 66)
Hope this helped!
Thanks for share of Irrlicht 1.8 software. I will download it.
the pet post
To the developers of this engine.
This is a great 3d engine. Hopefully you reconsider supporting directx for gcc users for releases of the engine. There are many users who would benefit vs having to rebuild the engine to create a lib and dll file for a dx8 and dx9 interface.
